PES Group survey | Our cities, our future – repairing the urban fabric

This survey aims to collect best practices from our PES CoR members and our young elected politicians in order to develop a toolkit to propose a progressive approach to defining not the city of the future, but the future of our cities, in terms, mainly, of the use of public spaces. By responding, you will help the PES group secretariat find the right path to take to develop such a toolkit. So don't hesitate to contribute – we need your input! RECONQUERING OUR PUBLIC SPACE

The 15-minute city is a concept in which most daily necessities and services, such as housing, work, shopping, education, healthcare and leisure, can be easily reached by a 15-minute walk or bike ride from any point in the city. If you are implementing this concept in your city, please provide us with one or more best practice examples.

What main challenges did you encounter in implementing the concept in your city? Please specify.

One measure to foster the development of sustainable and soft mobility is urban tolls. If you have implemented urban tolls or you are considering doing so in your city, please share your good practices.

MITIGATING AND ADAPTING THE USE OF PUBLIC SPACES TO THE CLIMATE TRANSITION

Urban sprawl is one of the main challenges of urban development. Do you agree with the concept of zero net land take, which specifies that there is no new artificialisation/degradation of land (particularly natural and agricultural land) to develop the city and that insists on restoration of already degraded land inside the city (instead of degrading new agricultural or natural land)? Please explain.
