The availability and affordability of housing in European cities and regions have reached a critical juncture. Skyrocketing prices and limited affordable options have plunged urban areas into housing crises. Families struggle to find homes they can afford, and vulnerable populations face even greater challenges. The future of housing policy in Europe hangs in the balance.

The PES Group in the European Committee of the Regions, together with PES Group member Isilda Gomes, mayor of Portimão, are proud to invite you to its extraordinary Group meeting on "Housing for all: Progressive cities and regions building the future of housing policy", which will take place in Portimão, Portugal, on Friday 5 April 2024 from 9:00 to 16:30.

Join us at the forefront of housing policy innovation! This is your chance to stand alongside and discuss with progressive politicians, experts, and urban leaders on this pressing topic.

At the event, progressive cities and regions from across Europe will unite to shape the future of housing. Don't miss this unique opportunity to be part of a transformative conversation, where progressive leadership will chart the course for a brighter housing future in Europe. Your participation is key; let's make affordable housing a reality for all.

The event is organised in cooperation with the S&D Group in the European Parliament, the Foundation for European Policy Studies (FEPS), the Young European Socialists (YES), PES Women and the Party of European Socialists (PES)

Following the event, we will have on Friday 5 April a walk to the Pontal Housing neighbourhood, which will include an action on housing from 14:30 to 15:30 and a guided visit to the Portimão Museum ("La Rose", former sardine factory) and from 15:30 to 16:30.
