Mayor Paweł Adamowicz Award – 5th Edition
The PES Group in the European Committee of the Regions would like to nominate Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mayor of Istanbul, for the Mayor Paweł Adamowicz Award.
This Award honours those who embody courage, freedom, solidarity, and equality at the local level. Mayor İmamoğlu has consistently upheld these values in the face of tremendous political pressure and personal risk. His continued imprisonment represents not only a grave injustice but also a wider attack on local democracy and progressive leadership in Türkiye.
Why your support matters
The rules of the Award require a critical mass of signatures from one or more of the following:
Members or alternate members of the European Committee of the Regions
Members of the European Parliament,
Presidents of local or regional councils,
Mayors,
Representatives of international organisations,
Representatives of national associations of local and regional authorities,
