Isabelle Boudineau, vice-president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council (PES/France), was today elected the new chair of the Committee of the Regions' (CoR) Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy and the EU Budget.

Succeeding Petr Osvald, Councillor of the City of Plzeň (PES/Czech Republic), she will guide the work of EU's local and regional politicians in shaping the EU's future cohesion policy and negotiations on the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).

Speaking after the election, Isabelle Boudineau, who has been a member of the CoR since 2016, emphasised: "I am taking over the chair of the COTER commission at a key moment.  2019 will be a crucial year for the European Union's cities and regions: Europe needs them more than ever, and they need Europe so that solidarity between regions can meet the challenges of populism, Brexit and the negotiations on the future European budget".

The French PES member was CoR rapporteur on the "Connecting Europe Facility" and on the "Reform of EU own resources within the next MFF post-2020".
